Web designing has been one of my greatest passions since 1998 after I participated a web design class in the upper comprehensive school. I've taken many roles from content provider to programmer in several projects I've taken part into. I've created sites both on off-the-self platforms and from scratch.
In the first years I created some hobby sites and meanwhile learned the basics of HTML, CSS and other common web technologies. During the years 2003–2006 I adjusted my sites to work in all older browsers, by handheld devices and for the disabled people. Playing with browser hacks and other unusual special cases for a few years trained me to master common web technologies as well as usability and accessability issues. I also learned that by aiming at perfection, you get nothing finished.
The next years I spent on finishing my university studies and on May 2009 I was approved to accomplish my master thesis in a web design company. After that my days were fulfilled with web technologies again. Eventhough I bought my first PHP book in 2002, I was rather inexperienced with programming, when in the startup meeting of my thesis I was told that I'd be working with object-orientered PHP.
For six months I studied ecommerce platform software for the thesis after which I was titled as a full-time programmer, and now on January 2011 I can proudly mention that I've become a rather experienced programmer during the past two years. While working I've got familiar with technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, jQuery, Liana-framework, OOP, MVC, unit testing, XML, SOAP and SCRUM. Besides my full-time job, I read literature of the subject daily, because I want to evolve to an expert of my field.
All the projects I'm currently involved in are listed below. The list was last updated on 25 January 2011.
ViidakkoStore has been my main site project since 2009 when I started at Koodiviidakko. I also studied ViidakkoStore in my master thesis. The ecommerce platform software is developed by a team of a few full-time members.
