Another summary. This time about Elma meetings. Juzam and Sathy visited Oulu and I saw Ismo and px in Tampere.

Juzam
He came here in January 2006 to buy a cheap USB keaboard for a multiplaying with Zweq, they drove two WRs after that. Juzam helped me to improve my multi total time by 10 seconds. We met about two hours.

Sathy
Sathy had some businesses here in Oulu in 20th January 2006. He had some hours time to meet me as well and so we did the Chinese restaurant lunch buffet and got acquainted with each other. A rare kuski to my Elma people met list, but that wasn’t the primary aspect because he seemed to be a very interesting and nice person in real life. Hopefully he will let me to meet him again in the future.

Read the previous post. I visited px for a few days in February 2006, Ismo for 30 minutes. Ismo showed some MKup replays and we irced a few lines in #elma.fi. Quite a small meeting.

Mopolauta post of my currently met Elma people

During the two unblogged months I’ve travelled some. I had my new laptop along so no boring moments in train or anywhere else. Thanks to my new coal backpack too, it rocks. Here goes a small summary of the travels.

New Year eve 2006 in Lappland
Six friends spent one week in a cottage in Lappland. Played games, skied, walked, chilled and talked shiat .. all the normal stuff. Actually we are people from one IRC-channel and the tradition has existed since 2004. This year was my second one.

Skiing trip at grandmother’s
I visited my loved grandmother and grandfather for three days and two nights. They live within 200km from Oulu. I happened to visit them many times in every year when I was younger but at teenage I found their company too boring or rather the activities they can offer.

They are getting old, at the moment the older one is 73 years old. If I still want to spend time with them it’s time for it now. So I was there, skied 39km kilometers, watched olympics and movies (Leon, Häjyt, 21 grams) and ate well.

Tampere tour 2006
Tre-tour is getting a bit traditional too, had similar one year ago already and a light version two years ago. I have a few good friends living there (500km from Oulu) and also the city is interesting with hills and technical university. Tampere might be the place where I could move if somewhere in Finland.

Met Tuska, px and Ismo out of Elma people. Also slept two nights at one army friend’s home and met another army friend. I was there for one week and again it was quite normal activities that we did: beer, wine, board and card games, walk, Taco House buffet, Steak restaurant, Pizzeria and an indian lunch. We also cooked some sweet and sour chicken with vegetables and steak with Greek vegetables (olives, potatoes, onions etc).

Watched Terminator 3, Time Machine and Forrest Gump in train.

Thanks folks, I had great moments. Next travels will head to Vaasa and Helsinki, most likely.

Almost one year ago I was thinking about buying a new cell phone. I’m just announcing that I didn’t buy it but am still using the good old Nokia 7110 which I’ve had since summer 2000. There is no real need for a new one, especially now when I got the laptop for mobile ircing.

Uusimpina kursseina läpäisty: Self-Access grammar (hyväksytty), Lecture Listening (hyväksytty), Business Correspondence (hyväksytty), sähkömittaustekniikan perusteet (2).

Tällä hetkellä on menossa kolme matematiikan kurssia (tilastomatematiikka, matemaattiset apuneuvo, signaalit ja järjestelmät), johdatus lääketieteen tekniikkaan kliinisessä lääketieteessä (JLTKL), Vocabulary for Science and Technology sekä tietorakenteet. Ihan mukavasti tulee opintopisteitä, jos kaikki menee suunnitelmien mukaan. Tietokonetekniikka (TKT) ja elektroniikkasuunnittelut perusteet (elsuper) tosin kummittelevat mielessä. Kurssit pitäisi olla jo läpi, mutta ei pelkoa. Ehkä ensi vuonna sitten…

JLTKL on osoittautunut todella mielenkiintoiseksi kurssiksi. Meille luennoidaan ja demotaan 15 lääketieteen osa-aluetta, missä tekniikka on olennaisesti mukana. Tähän mennessä on aiheista käsitelty radiologia, kardiologia, sädehoito ja anestesia. Tänään maanantaina on neurologia ja huomenna korva-, silmä- ja kurkkutaudit. Anestesian demossa käytiin teho-osastolla, mikä oli itselleni henkilökohtaisesti ensimmäinen kerta. Oli aika ravisuttavaa seisoa vakavasti sairaan potilaan vierellä ja tutkia letkuja, johtoja ja laitteita, minkä varassa hän oli elämässä vielä kiinni.

Ajattelin tehdä, kun kerkeän, pienen koostesivun opiskeluistani Puluprojekti-sivulle.

Tämän talven tavoite oli hiihdellä 750km, viime talvena pääsin 500 kilometriin. Tällä hetkellä ei näytä hyvältä, sillä viime vuonna tähän aikaan oli 261km, kun nyt on vasta 129km. Syitä on kovat pakkaset ja laiskuus. Mutta yritetään vielä polkasta sivakoinnit käyntiin keväälle. Juuri olin kolme päivää mummolassa hiihtelemässä, mutta ylihuomenna lähden viikoksi Tampereelle ja siellä ei kilometrejä kerry.

Pituusennätys olisi myös tarkoitus rikkoa, joka taitaa olla 38km viime talvelta. Matka on naurettava, kun sitä vertaa kävelyennätykseeni, joka on 52.6km.

1500l Pepsi and Sony Vaio S5
I bought 1500 litres Pepsi, took off the etiquettes, wrote down the bottle codes and cashed a Sony Vaio S5 laptop. The hardworking part took about 40 hours and the costs were about 700e at total. Quite nice prize for a laptop valuable 2000e.

Malyksen muutto Kemistä Kuopioon
Autettiin Stypidin kanssa Malysta muuttamaan tavarat Kemistä Kuopioon. Muutto ei edennyt aivan mutkitta, jopa seikkailuksi sitä voisi kutsua.

Finally I installed the WordPress to run my blog. Thanks for skint0r to suggest it. I’m also thanking the guys behind this great project (WordPress) and Harmi who added the apple tree to the logo.

WordPress is running under my own domain using PHP and MySQL, it’s a free, open-source and fully customizable. Especially the admin panel is superb. The category system is supported as well.

Applelane isn’t Elma related only anymore, not even officially. I will write about non-Elma things as well .. as I’ve always been doing already but now I won’t feel any guilt about doing so. I can also use Finnish instead of English sometimes.

I have over ten things (some of them are even one month old) to write here about. Hopefully I’ll have time to do that in near future.
