1600m

Category: Elma, Sport — Abula at 23:33 EEST in April 26, 2005

New swimming record is 1600m now. Average heart rate was 164 which is quite high. I also met one old school mate in the hall, he is a swimming guru and also studing in Oulu university (geography).

The morning of the day I used for Paprika, 56%. Tomorrow morning I’ll have a math exam, after that it’s party time (Wappen). About 6h for math today it was.

Just put a bottle of beer to fridge to get it cooled down. 30 minutes and I’ll drink it. After that sweet dreams. I don’t have any sleeping problems. For me it takes maximum 10 minutes to fall asleep and yes, I’m happy for that.

FEM cottage is payed. 13.-20. June 2005 will be a memorable event for 20-30 guys - that’s what I hope. My personal goals are English speaking, winning the walking battle and beat Tisk and Karlis in 24 hours total time competition.

Ok, the beer is ready.

28/180

Saturday morning: math exam and I did well. Most likely it will be passed and that means 3½ points nearer graduation. 180 is required and I’ve got 28. In the evening I was cycling: 75km. On Sunday I was coding Paprika.

Paprika percentage 55%.

Tuesday

Category: Education, Personal, Sport — Abula at 23:42 EEST in April 19, 2005

Woke up at 8:15 (45mins late already, not a good start). Me and Carju (room mate) had decided to wake up at 7:30 so we can walk to swimming hall (45mins), swim, do sauna and then Carju could go to dentist’s at time and me back to home and school. The reason why I slept too late (I do that about once in 4 months or something) was because my clock alarmed at 6:25 telling that ankka (a friend) has a birthday today. So I angrly turned off the cell phone (didn’t think too clearly). At the same time Carju also failed to wake up. Anyway, not a big deal, just a quicker breakfast, cycling to hall and no sauna needed.

I swam a new record: 1525m in 45mins.

School was booked from 12:00 to 21:00. The first two hours we were doing a simulation exercise of the circuit theory course. Surprisingly it was quite nice exercise and our mood got up (90% of my school stuff is done with ankka so you know whom I’m meaning when I speak of ‘we’). Then coffee break: I drank a glass of water and ate a few candies (those which can be only licked).

The next 3h were for our digital clock project. We had worked for that the last 4-5 months and it was finally getting ready. After 30mins we had introduced our work for the lecture and passed the course. Everything went so great. Perfect! One of the best memories of my university life. We were 99% sure there are errors and we must redesign some parts of it but luckily it passed at the first attempt (when you think you are ready you can go to visit the lecture and try to get it passed).

Whii, so 2h30min free time. I tried to get ankka for a walk but he was too lazy. Instead of we planned our summer studies and stuff like that. At 17:15 it was time for a burger, I regret to admit I ordered a mega burger with french fries. Still feeling bad physically. And mentally. The morning swimming was for nothing in weight losing matter.

From 18:00 to 20:30 we were practicing for the upcoming mathematical basic course II’s second exam. I didn’t do well enough in the first exam so I must try my best now (I try to do my best only if I’m forced or if I love the thing I’m doing like Moposite).

At home I cleaned my shoes, organized room and washed dishes. Now I’m drinking Stroh with Cola and just chilling. Tomorrow will be a tough day again. 90mins badminton, 45mins gym (might be my first time to do gym voluntarily) and then school day of 4-5 hours. Actually not a bad day at all.

A new pope has been elected (not a correct term I guess). I ended up to read some facts about the John Paul II and found out that he was tried to be murdered by a Turkish named Mehmet Ali Agca. The interesting part is the events after the attempt. Pope met Agca in the prison and forgave him. The forgiveness discussion has been hot for a while among my friends. Is there any action which can’t be forgiven? I don’t know. And I don’t want to hear any religion views anymore.

Another problem that has been up latelly: what is materially enough for a person. I mean: I’ve got a computer, expensive clothes, eat burgers, travel etc etc when some people don’t even have water and food. Should I give 99% or 98% or 90% or 50% or 10% or 1% of my material for poor people? What’s a good amount, 10%? And if I don’t give should I feel bad for it? Own house, car and summer cottage are almost compulsory things for Finns. That is very crazy when you think about it more. Of course we can always say: “yea I studied hard and then worked for years so I’ve earned them”. But as we know a lot of the people in the world don’t even have opportunity to study. Should I just feel happy I was born in Finland, do my best in own life and help people around me and also give some amount of my income for poorer people around the world? That’s my current ideology.

Sorry for non-Elma talk.

Hey. I’m just listing some presents things.

Summer
I won’t have a full-time job in the summer so I will have lots of time for computer stuff. Seven days long FEM (Finnish Elma Meeting)! Also Paprika will have more percentages. And more blog (I have bunch of semi-ready posts waiting). Hopefully some fellows will invite me so I can also travel and visit people.

Paprika
With a help of Sathy it’s going forward. 50.1%.

Sport
I beat my old record of Tour de Pyykösjärvi. 45:10 (average heart rate 155) though I found a shortcut so it’s not that much better. The day before yesterday I was cycling - 69km. Today I have not done any sport.

Mom
Tomorrow we will be celebrating my mom’s birthday. Hi Emo (as I call her)! I hope all the happy and joy for you now and in the future. Lots of hugs from me.

Today
I’ve been rather lazy, only cleaned my room, washed dishes and been 4h in school. Some hours still left, let’s see what will happen. Sometimes it’s just nice to relax and chill. But that’s not any producing. Oh, now I remember that I also was making GAA04 prizes a few hours ago.

CVS

Category: Elma, Internet, Personal, Sport — Abula at 22:01 EEST in April 9, 2005

I used Wednesday and Thursday evenings for learning CVS (Concurrent Versions System). I know the basics now and be able to get some advantages of it for the Paprika.

Yesterday I ran 8.31km to 46:20 mins. The route is called Tour de Pyykösjärvi, come and challenge me (tijsjoris?). Today I cycled 2 points, swam 1 (did a personal record, 1500m) and walked 2 points. Tired but happy. Now I must read some work papers and then sleeping. Tomorrow is quite free, only a few hours of school.

Nothing special happened latelly, been studing, working and doing sports as usual. Nice to see so active blog writing among you (the guys in my Kuski blogs list). Even my studing mate (papu aka ankka) launched his own. The question is when will Carju (my room mate and very good pal)? I would love to read his.

Paprika percentage 50%.

Comments

Category: Elma, Internet, Personal, Sport — Abula at 2:06 EEST in April 2, 2005

Oh, Sathy just told me that I can enable email notification of new comments. Superb! Now I have gone through all the old posts to check if there are any new comments once in a while. That really sucked.

Do you know what I did ‘today’? Washed dishes, cleaned my room, drove five silly replays (check Moposite news), wrote two days forward my army diary (176 days left now), organized old digital pictures, organized old bills and ordered one part of the GAA04 prizes. And yes, some swimming database work. And badminton. Now I need to sleep because I’ve got an alarm clock ready to ring at 10:00 o’clock to get my ass up for a run. Snow is gone and I want to test my 140e running shoes.

Heart rate is interesting. My minimum record is 52 now. The maximum official record will be measured later today.

Our apartment

Category: Personal — Abula at 1:43 EEST in April 2, 2005

BarTek asked me to take some photos of our apartment and show them. So I did, well just three weeks later.

At first some general info. I live in Syynimaa, Oulu, Finland in a double flat with my good friend, Carju. It’s about 500m to university. The rent is 197.89e for both of us and the square are is 50.5m^2. Our own rooms are about 13m^2 and we got quite large bathroom and kitchen. We don’t have own sauna but there is one for everyone’s usage in the yard. I’m very happy about my situation: cheap rent, near to university and nice company. 5km to centrum.

The first picture is taken in our living room. The kitchen is in the same place. We live on second floor.

Left door is my room, right one is Carju’s.

Our dirty kitchen.

The mecca. This is how my irc client looks.

And from another angle.

Book and booze shelves.

Penguin.

The fridge is unnormal full today.
